They say June is a month filled with weddings and we all know that weddings is usually followed by the couple's honeymoon.Europe is probably one of the top picks of a lot couples for their dream honeymoon destination, because who wouldn't want to spend that special day in a place filled with historical monuments and scenic landscape. For couples who are considering having their honeymoon in Europe, Paris and Rome are two of your best options.

Our friends from Parisapartmentsbynumbers.com have created this awesome infographic that compares what Paris and Rome have to offer to tourists and travellers (especially honeymooners).

Paris vs. Rome

One of the more overlooked capitals in Europe, Ljubljana has actually a lot to offer. But first the facts. Ljubljana is the largest city and capital of the country of Slovenia. It is not particularly big, compared to other European capitals, with a population of just two hundred and eighty thousand inhabitants, but then again the whole population of Slovenia is just two million, so this is normal and to be expected by anyone who has thought enough about the problem.

Slovenia_
Ljubljana sits at an elevation of two hundred and ninety five metres above sea level and is spread out on an area of one hundred and sixty four square kilometres. The story of Ljubljana has started somewhere around the end of 12th century and beginning of 13th century, though the exact date is hard to pin down.

The population density, in case you are wondering and cannot calculate yourself, given you already know the population and the area, is one thousand and six hundred people per square kilometre. The postal code, in case you want to send a letter to Ljubljana, is one thousand. The registration plate code, in case you are wondering if any of the cars passing you by are from Ljubljana, is LJ.

Ljubljana_

All of this information, of course, is not going to make you rush into the city. Furthermore, if you are looking for some venerable European town with a lot of castles, gothic buildings and somber atmosphere, look away. Ljubljana does have some gothic architecture and a very nice castle on top of the hill, overlooking the whole city in the middle of a great park for leisure walks. It is just that the charm and assets of Ljubljana lie elsewhere.

Ljubljana is today a very lively city with great events happening all year round and inherent sense of aesthetics. Even before noticing or knowing any of the festivals going on, you can see that Ljubljana somehow resembles a modern art project. It has astounding and perfectly placed graffiti in every corner you do not expect to find graffiti.

Even the dullest shop is arranged as if for a gallery exhibition. The theatre scene is vibrant, with important artists working in the different branches of theatre like contemporary theatre (SNT Drama Ljubljana is the best place for that), street theatre (ask for Ana Monro Theatre), physical theatre (for example Betontanc) and puppetry (look for Ljubljana Puppet Theatre).

There are, of course, many groups that specialize in modern dance, most of which you can ultimately see in Ljubljana Dance Theatre. Perhaps the most used venue for culture in Ljubljana is the Cankar Hall, named after Ivan Cankar, a Slovenian author and playwright. The hall, which actually has many halls, is used for many and varying events, such as art and music festivals.

Ljubljana_2
Then there is Metelkova. Metelkova is an autonomous artistic neighbourhood and is just too wild to describe. The place used to be an army barracks (of the Austro-Hungarian army from the end of 19th century and beginning of 20th century).

However, in the early nineties of the last century (20th century), the seven buildings were turned spontaneously into artist studios, art galleries and nightclubs. Every night and every day, indeed, at any time you can find interesting people, you can witness some art performance or see a live playing band. The Metelkova project is ongoing, so to speak. One can spend days just studying one of the many walls decorated by Slovenian artists there.

When it comes to Dubai, you need to make a priority, as in, you have to make a list of all the attractions to be visited according to the importance of the attraction. Well, to be frank I wasn’t able to do it first as there was no one to guide or in a way I didn’t consider the importance of the online articles.

I thought they were not dependable but of course, they are and should have I read one of the relevant articles then I would not have faced so many problems. But, in any case I recovered fast as I had a long vacation to cover. I took this particularly holiday vacation after two years and then I was so desperate to visit Dubai that I went for a 15 days’ vacation with all my family.

I will not help you rather I will provide you some guidance from the experience which I have got from my first visit. Some of them are mentioned below:

  • Dubai Rentals – Yes, this is really interesting, especially when you are up for a long vacation. The hotels might seem odd to you when there is a long vacation and most of them are downtown, so you would not find any chance to relax. The busy city would disturb you all the time. So, my suggestion would be to book for some of the property rental services.
  • Desert Safari – Mostly, you will find deserts in many places of the world, actually deserted. But, here things are certainly different which means there is a certain amount of crowd and things to do for which people come and enjoy. One such thing is desert safari. The 4 wheeler safaris are available in plenty.
  • Shopping at the Gold market – Every January there is a sale in the gold market, this means people go there at night specially, to get the best gold at low price. So, you must visit this place in all times but January has something secret inside.
  • Burj Khalifa tower – One of the tallest towers in the world is named Burj Khalifa. The iconic design is really special to see. Well, as soon I reached this place, I was all the time in contact with this tower as it is distinctly available from any part of this city. But, the real charm came when I went near it and inside it to experience it.
  • Visit Wild Wadi – When you have a kids company then this water park is sure to delight you and your family members.
  • Best Cuisine includes Shawarma – One of the best foods you should try is the Sahwarma which is an icon and special food here. It is made from lamb or chicken and it is mixed with tomatoes, garlic and sauces.
  • Dhow Dubai Cruise – It is certainly targeted for a private sail with romantic engagement and arrangement. Small boats, candles, subtle lighting arrangements and lots more add a fragrance to the environment.
  • Yacht Charter Dubai – One of the best examples for the means of fun and holiday experience is Yacht Hire Dubai. There are plenty of options available in yachts business out here.
  • Kite surfing – A sport which is at the verge of getting the most glorious popularity in recent times is highly practised here. If you do have a potential to go for this then you must or else the experience is viewing the sport is awesome also.
  • Miscellaneous stuff – Yes, there are lot of local museum, amusement parks, celeb events and lot more which also attracts a lot of people.

Travelling has been one of the most popular activities that a lot of Filipinos enjoy these days. But there’s one very crucial thing that comes with travelling that a lot of people are oftentimes having trouble with – packing. For most people, it would seem that packing stuff would be very easy as shoving clothes and other items in your bag. But of course in reality, it’s not as easy as it sounds.

If you’re travelling by plane, this would be more difficult due to luggage limitations. And if you’re travelling by bus or van, hauling a giant bag in your lap is really not that convenient, right? So having said this, it is very important to pack the right stuff in the right amount whenever you’re going on an out of town trip. So to help you guys out, the next time you set off on a trip, here are a few tips on how to travel lighter and more efficiently.

1.) Arrange your clothes in rolls. Rolling your clothes and arranging them neatly in your bag helps a lot by not only making more room inside your bag but it also makes it really convenient to check things on the last minute as one would easily see all the items in your bag using this arrangement. It’s also easier to compact things when clothes are rolled in contrast when they’re just laid flat.

2.) Use a shammy cloth towel. If you’re not sure whether the hotel or resort you’re going to offers bath towels as standard or you’re not just comfortable using towels other than your own, then bringing a bath towel is not an option. However, bath towels are quite large and heavy. It also takes a large amount of space in your bag, space which can be used to store other things. So if you really need to bring your own towel, try bringing a shammy cloth towel instead. It takes half the space and absorbs the same amount of water.

3.) Use the proper bag. Having a nice system of organizing your stuff is not enough to make your travel lighter. Having the right bag to put all your things plays a pivotal role in order to keep your package light. For me, the best travel bag is always a backpack. Backpacks balance the weight of its contents between your shoulders making it easier to carry. It is also nice if you bag would have several compartments and pockets to store your various gadgets and trinkets. Additional storage would also help getting things organized and most of the times more accessible.

4.) Bring only what you need. The excitement of going on a place you haven’t been before can cause anyone to overestimate a lot of things. And this is also true when it comes to packing. Even though you’re very excited, always keep in mind to bring only the things that you will need. If you’re going on a 5-day trip, bring only things that you will need for the duration of your trip.

5.)Plan ahead of time. Cramming is possibly be a travellers worst enemy. A hap-hazard, last minute packing things would increase the chance of a person over pack or worse, forget something. So it’s always advisable to plan things ahead of time so you can sort things out, packing only the things that are necessary and choosing the right equipment to haul all your stuff.

So I hope this post was able to help you out whenever you plan to go out of town. Do you have other suggestions on how to pack lighter when travelling? Do tell us by leaving a comment below. Most Pinoys nowadays are frequent travellers. The popularization of seat sales in airline companies as well as improved routes of transformation has made travelling to a lot of easier compared ten years ago. But of course, we Filipinos are more of a muncher than a traveller. So whenever we go out and about exploring the world, we always like to bring some food to eat to past the time or to just fill an empty stomach.

So what are the most popular chichas for Filipinos on the go? If you’re planning for an out of town trip, an adventure trip or you’re just plain hungry, here are a few snacks you might want to consider bringing the next time you want to go Dora the Explorer.

Peanuts – Peanuts are probably one of the best knick-knacks to bring whenever travelling. They’re very easy to stash in your bag. Peanuts can be bought from supermarkets as packed snacks with different variants and flavors or be bought from vendors in bus stations or sidewalks.

If you’re buying from sidewalk vendors, you can either get a steamed peanut (shells included) or a fried version with two variants. One with the skin (the brown coating found on peanut seeds) or the one without which is known locally as the hubad na mani.

Chips – Another snack favorite for people on the go are chips. Chips are readily available in most supermarket and even in sari-sari stores so getting them is a piece of cake. The most common chips are those from Jack N’Jill, Oishi and Regent. For the more posh traveller, there are a variety of imported chips you can choose from including Lays, Pringles and Doritos.

Pugo (Quail Eggs) – Although not really something that’s easy to eat on the road, quail eggs or pugo have long been a favorite for travellers all over the country. They are usually sold in small plastic bags with a small amount of salt included. Each pack contains around 4-5 pieces of quail eggs and costs around 20 pesos per pack.

Corn (Cornick or fresh corn) – Another favorite snack in buses and trains is corn. Whether in the form of deep fried corn bits or steamed corn on the cob, you can see corn snacks sold in bus and train stations and even sold by vendors in bus stop overs.

If you love the steamed corn on the cob, do take note that there are buses that do not allow passengers to eat this while on the bus. This is because they can be quite messy to eat at times and can’t leave an unpleasant smell if you leave them on plastic for a considerable amount of time.

Biscuits/crackers – Last but definitely not the least are biscuits and crackers. They’re very cheap and very reliable when it comes to satisfying a hungry stomach. There is a diverse list of choices such as plain crackers, cream filled biscuits, jelly-filled biscuits and flavored crackers to name a few.

So there you have it guys! Which is your best buddy whenever you’re travelling? Please tell us by leaving a comment below. And please, don’t forget to add TFL on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google Plus and subscribe to their feed for more Filipino lifestyle stories.

On my last post, I talked about travel essentials, those things you should not forget to bring when you travel. Some of those travel essentials I mentioned can also make you look fashionable when you travel. Look your best by wearing the right clothes, pair of shoes and accessories. You wouldn’t want to look ugly on pictures, would you? People will judge you depending on your looks, since you are in a different place, it is better to look at your best. Here are simple fashion tips for those who love to travel.

5 Travel Fashion Tips

Wear Shades. As one of your travel essentials, wearing shades will make you look fashionable in an instant. Aviators and Wayfarers are ideal pair of sunnies you can wear when you are travelling. Just make sure your pair of shades matches the shape of your face to complement your look and highlight your face. Aviators are my best choice for shades.

Use Comfortable Sandals. Use a trendy and comfortable pair of sandals or shoes when you are travelling. Although rubber shoes or running shoes are comfortable, leave them behind because those are too oldies. Revamp your look when you travel by wearing flat sandals or boat shoes.

Match Your Style with the Place. Travelling in a different place means doing an experiment in your style too. Depending on what the people wear in the place you will visit, you can blend with the crowd by wearing what’s hot there. But this doesn’t mean your outfit should look common, you can still be fashion forward by playing with colors, patterns and accessories. If you’re going in a place with cold weather, it’s time to play with boots and layers of tops plus sassy leggings for ladies. For men, you can try those stylish and comfortable jackets and head accessories to keep you warm. Tip: don’t wear a tourist shirt. It will be obvious that you are a tourist making you prone to expensive deals.

Don’t Be Afraid to Wear Accessories. Wearing accessories when you are travelling won’t make you feel uncomfortable. I actually wore wooden bangles while I was snorkelling in the middle of the sea in Cebu. It makes you look sassy and cute. Just don’t over accessorize and don’t wear heavy burloloys.

Carry a Nice Bag. A bulky bag is a no-no when you travel. Leave them in your hotel and bring a smaller bag enough to store your cameras, mobile phones and some travel essentials like sunblock. Your bag can complement your outfit so choose wisely which bag to bring with you. Ideally, for travelling, a small sling bag is both comfortable and fashionable to bring anywhere you go.

Being fashionable when travelling makes you feel better and comfortable during your getaways. When you travel, there is no excuse to look grumpy. You can still look fab even if you’re riding on a wooden boat or when you’re on top of a running vehicle on a grumpy road.

When travelling, people often forget important things to bring with them. To avoid these problems, I usually write down a list of things I need to bring with me before my getaway. I always do this because I want everything to go according to my plan even from the smallest details. A perfect vacation is possible when you are prepared, although I have nothing against being spontaneous with plans. When it comes to travelling, I don’t want any unwanted problems that might spoil my vacation.

Let me share with you some of the things I always bring with me when I travel. One missing item from this list can make me feel anxious during the entire trip.

Travel Essentials

Camera. Check! Without a camera, I would definitely freak out. Taking photos whenever I travel is very important to me. Keeping memories and capturing moments in a different place is fun and exciting. As much as possible, I want a backup camera instead of bringing just one. Built-in camera in mobile phones will do if you don’t have an extra. I remember during my trip in Bohol, because of too much cam-whoring, my battery went empty when I arrived at the Chocolate Hills. No backup camera for me, so I have to keep some photographic landscapes stored forever in my forgetful memory.

Shades. Your shades can function in many ways when you travel. It protects your eyes from the sunlight. You can use it to cover your eyes when sleeping. Or you can also use it to peak or look at someone without them noticing. Plus shades add style to your outfit.

Comfy Shoes or Sandals. Leave those wedges, high-heels or bulky shoes at home. It is important to be comfortable when you travel. Wear a pair of sandals or shoes that won’t hurt your feet. For sure, you will have a lot of walkathons during your trip so consider wearing a comfortable pair.

Two Separate Wallets. Bringing only one wallet with you can be risky when you are travelling. I guess it will be safe if you’ll separate your money into two wallets in case of unexpected mishaps like losing your wallet, at least you still have money left with you.

Small Bag. Aside from your bulky travel bag, bring with you an extra smaller bag. This will make your tour easier since you can carry it with anywhere you go. Camera, phone and your small wallet can be kept inside a smaller bag.

Ready to go now? Check all the things you need to bring with you before you go and have a great vacation ahead. :)
