Philippine cuisine is one of the most common world cuisines. Its unique flavor, style of preparation and eating customs involve a mixture of different cuisines and techniques including Chinese, Malay, American and Spanish. 

There are many kinds of dishes ranging from simple ones meant to eat at home to the complex ones meant for special events. Most of the dishes are fashioned from fish, beef, pork and vegetables with a healthy serving of freshly cooked rice. If you want a particular food, you must know which regional cuisine to order. This is a must have cuisine in any Filipino event or restaurant. It is always said that if you have not taken Kare-Kare, then you equally have not had Philippine cuisine. To enjoy it more, serve with bagoong (shrimp or fish paste). This dish consists of a sumptuous mixture of:
  • Vegetables (includes eggplant, beans, etc.)
  • Ox tail  (usually those from a cow's stomach)
  • Peanut sauce
  • Small pieces of pork


2. ADOBO

While Americans have the burger, Filipinos  have the "Adobo". This is a simple but delicious dish, which is prepared using simple but well-balanced ingredients including 
  • Pork and or chicken
  • Garlic
  • Soy sauce and vinegar
  • Deep fried meat that is shredded if you want Adobo Flakes


3. PORK MENUDO

You will never miss this dish in any Filipino gathering. When you order this Philippine cuisine, you must be particular about which regional cuisine because different regions tend to prepare pork menudo in various ways. However, all of the variations are mouth-watering. Most of the recipes will include: 
  • Hotdogs
  • Vegetables including Garbanzos, potatoes and carrots
  • Green peas
  • Dried raisins
  • Tomato Sauce


4. Pancit Molo (Mob o Soup)

Ever tasted the Chinese wonton soup? This Philippine delicacy resembles that Molo soup is a mixture of the following ingredients.
  • Shredded chicken
  • Shrimps
  • Grounded pork that is wrapped in wonton.

Filipinos usually top the soup with garlic, green onions or freshly squeezed calamansi. It is funny how this dish is called "Pancit" yet it contains no noodles.

5. Inihaw Na Liempo (Grilled Pork Belly)


As the name suggests, preparation of this dish is not hard. With the delicious taste, you do not need any cutlery to eat Inihaw Na Liempo. To complement the taste, add eggplant salad and some vinegar. The best way to eat is using the "kamayan" way, which is the culture of eating using your bare hands. This is common in the Philippines and almost all foods are eaten this way.
