Acer has announced this week that they will be starting to sell
the Acer Aspire 7 before this month ends. The Aspire S7 debuted in Taipei, Taiwan
earlier this year at COMPUTEX – one of Asia’s premier IT conferences.
As the name suggests, the Aspire S7 is the bigger brother of
the Aspire S3 and S5 ultrabooks. But unlike the two, the S7 will run the latest
version of Microsoft’s Windows operating system. The S7 will come in two versions,
a 13.3-inch model and an 11.6-inch version. The 13.3-inch Aspire will feature a
glossy Gorilla glass lid while the 11.6-inch model will fashion an aluminum
lid.
Both ultrabooks will feature a touchscreen display which is
typical for devices running on Windows 8 and will have a very slim profile measuring
at only 12mm and weigh less than 3 pounds. They will also both feature the same backlit keyboard and HD
displays with a native resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. As for performance parts,
the smaller S7 will have an Intel Core-i5 CPU while its larger counterpart will
have an i7, both will have 4GB of RAM and at least 128GB SSD and will retail for around $1400 and 1650 respectively.
In other news, a leaked photo of a rumored Nokia Lumia 510
surfaces on the internet today. The phone which was first spotted in China a
few weeks back will reportedly feature a 4.0-inch screen, an 800 MHz processor
and 256MB of RAM. And since it’s a Windows smartphone, it will probably feature
the basic bells and whistles of devices in its class.

The Lumia 510 as the name implies will target entry level
smartphone consumers and will probably be first released in specific countries
like China. Lastly, based on the leaked photos, the phone still has the old
homescreen UI found in Windows Phone 7.
