Case to Case Basis

Our gadgets have now become an important part of our lives, to the point that most of us can’t leave our gadgets behind whenever we go out and about. But the world can be an unforgiving place, and our gadgets aren’t really that weather-proof.

So to give our techie stuff a fighting chance against the elements, most of us resort to getting an added layer of protection – cases. There are cases made out of rubber, plastic and leather. To help you out, I’ve listed some options if you’re a little bit overwhelmed with the many choices of casings for your gadgets.

JELLY CASE

Jelly cases are the most affordable casing you can get for your gadgets. It’s made out of cheap yet durable rubber material that snugly fits into smartphones and tablets. It can also come in a wide selection of colours to fit one’s wardrobe.

Jelly cases are also the most mass produced, which makes it the most readily available to consumers. Majority of phone and tablet models nowadays have compatible jelly cases so consumers won’t have a hard time finding one for their gadgets. The only down side with these cases is that they kind of make your gadget look a little bit cheap.

NET CASE

Net cases are the second most affordable casing for your gadgets. It’s made out of a thin piece of perforated plastic that snaps on place to your device. Just like jelly cases, net cases are compatible with most phone models from different manufacturers.

The downside with this kind of case is that it’s quite a magnet for dirt and dust. The perforations in the net case are the perfect place for dust and dirt to settle which makes cleaning up your device quite a trouble.
Also, the color of this type of cases can fade as time goes by. And since it’s made out of plastic, it doesn’t offer the same level of flexibility as jelly case and there are times that it can easily break.

LEATHER CASE

Leather cases are a bit more expensive compared to jelly and net cases. Some of them may be made out of synthetic leather while some may be made from the genuine thing. Unlike the two casings stated above, leather cases aren’t made to fit snugly into phones and tablets. Instead, they’re made as pouches or covers.

Although leather cases can provide your gadgets with a more premium feel, the relatively difficult nature of leather to be formed and melded into different shapes and sizes make them a little bit bulky sometimes. They’re also not as tough as those cases made from plastic and rubber so clumsy users may not be too happy with leather cases.

SPECIAL MATERIAL CASE

Another type of case that has slowly gained popularity over consumers is the silicone case. Capdase is one of the brands that offer cases with silicone. These cases are very similar to jelly cases but are thinner and have that soft touch feel.

There are also casings with mixed materials. These cases usually make use of plastic, rubber or silicone. Brands like Otterbox, Musubo and Bootcase specializes in this kind of cases. However, these type of cases usually have unusual designs so minimalist fans might not like them.

FANCY CASE

Last but not the least, there are what I call Fancy cases. And as the name implies, they have very fancy designs, from Hello Kitty, cartoon characters and cassette tapes to name a few. They’re usually made out of rubber and/or plastic and are compatible with most mainstream phone models.

The designs for this kind of case are usually meant for young individuals and fashionistas, so those looking for simple and modest case designs may not be a fan of this case.

So, I hope I was able to help you out in picking up the right case for your gadget.
