Nowadays, Chinese restaurants have gone main stream and are now offering food items that feature Chinese cuisine with a touch of western flavour. These places are now scattered all around the metro, usually within malls and shopping centers. And with a more premium looking venue, these restaurants are slowly becoming a favourite dining spot for young executives and their families. Here are a few of these Chinese food chains you might want to check out.

SUPER BOWL of CHINA. Super Bowl of China is one of those restaurant chains that offer Chinese cuisine with a western ambiance and service. The look and feel of the restaurant is achieved by utilizing a number of elements including the design, décor, floor and wall finishes, furnishings, table setting, food presentation and of course the menu.

SBC specialties include crispy lemon chicken, dimsum, congee, wanton noodle soup, BBQ style pork chop, deep-fried pork dish, stir-fried beef and a variety of rice toppings. All of these food items can be enjoyed for a minimum of P200 per person.

They have branches in several malls around the metro, including those on SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, Robinsons Place Manila, Trinoma, the Gateway mall, Glorietta 4 and in Festival Supermall in Alabang.

NORTH PARK. North Park Noodle House is another restaurant that offers similar menu to that of Super Bowl of China. Although the restaurant’s name sounds very western, the food is unmistakably Asia. Their specialties include a variety of fried rice, honey roasted pork asado, stir-fried beef, plus a host of other seafood themed cuisine most of which are recipes handed down to the restaurant’s Chinese owners.

North Park has several branches in Metro Manila including that in ATC, Trinoma, Glorietta 5, Market! Market! and SM Megamall to name a few.

MR. CHOI KITCHEN. Mr. Choi Kitchen is another alternative for that Chinese food with a western twist. Specialties include shrimp dumplings, steamed fish fillet with garlic sauce, fried chicken in lemon sauce, beef tenderloin in Chinese style and fresh scallop with broccoli or asparagus to name a few.

The restaurant has branches in Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Place Manila, Waltermart Makati and Robinsons Place Pioneer with price points starting at P200 per person.

MANNANG/MAN HAN. Man Han/Mannang on the other hand offers Chinese cuisine mixed with traditional Filipino flavours. Their specialties include barbecue meals, soups, pansit meals, rice meals (which include fried rice, black rice, java rice, garlic rice and porridges), vegetables, fish, pork, chicken and beef.

If you want to dine in Mannang, be prepared to spend a minimum of P150. The restaurant has branches in SM Mall of Asia and in SM Megamall.

FLAVOURS OF CHINA. Flavours of China is another similar restaurant that feature Chinese cuisine with a little bit of western influence. The look and feel of the restaurant is similar to that of Super Bowl of China and a bit of Mr. Choi Kitchen. Their specialties include rice, pork, beef and seafood meals. There are also meals that feature rice, dimsum, vegetables and of course noodle.

Prices are almost identical with North Park, Mr. Choi Kitchen and Super Bowl of China. Branches are located at SM North EDSA, SM San Lazaro, SM Sucat and SM Southmall to name a few.

LUK YUEN NOODLE HOUSE. Luk Yuen on the other hand is a chain of restaurants specializes in – as the name implies – noodles. Some of the items in their menu include wanton soup, ravioli soup, king dao pork noodle soup, chicken siopao, asado siopao, steamed pork siomai, quail egg siomai, shrimp congee, pork ball congee, beef brisket rice, soya chicken rice, roasted duck, soy chicken and boneless chicken in lemon sauce among others.

DIMSUM N’ DUMPLINGS. Dimsum N’ Dumplings offers a cheaper alternative compared to other restaurants in our list. As its name implies, the restaurant’s focus is more on dimsum and dumplings. And as such, they offer mainly fried or steamed dimsum which can be mixed with a variety their own yang chow fried rice.

Dimsum N’ Dumplings branches can be found on several locations including Shangri-la Plaza Mall, Robinsons Place Manila, Glorietta 4, the Gateway Mall, Eastwood Cybermall and SM Fairview. It’s also one of the most affordable eating spots with an ordinary meal priced at below P150.

HAINANESE DELIGHTS. Hainanese Delights is the last restaurant in our list. It’s also the least influenced by western culture. Aside from the casual fried chicken and beef brisket, the restaurant taste is still undeniably Chinese.

If you’re willing to spend at least P150 on food, you can find Hainanese Delights in the following locations: Robinson’s Galleria, Robinsons Place Manila, Robinsons Forum, SM Fairview, SM Valenzuela and SM Southmall.

And there you have it. If you’re having a bit of a Chinese food craving, the list above will certainly give you a fix. From pansit, siomai, siopao, lumpiang shanghai, to lemon glazed pork, spicy spare ribs and sweet & sour pork, you name it and they have it.
