Chinese culture has long been a part of
Filipino lifestyle. Their influences are seen through our clothes, our houses,
music and of course are food. But the days when Chinese restaurants’ menu was
mainly made of pansit, siomai or lumpiang shanghai.

Nowadays, Chinese restaurants have gone
main stream and are now offering food items that feature Chinese cuisine with a
touch of western flavour. These places are now scattered all around the metro,
usually within malls and shopping centers. And with a more premium looking
venue, these restaurants are slowly becoming a favourite dining spot for young
executives and their families. Here are a few of these Chinese food chains you
might want to check out.
SUPER
BOWL of CHINA. Super Bowl of China is one of those restaurant
chains that offer Chinese cuisine with a western ambiance and service. The look
and feel of the restaurant is achieved by utilizing a number of elements
including the design, décor, floor and wall finishes, furnishings, table
setting, food presentation and of course the menu.
SBC specialties include crispy lemon
chicken, dimsum, congee, wanton noodle soup, BBQ style pork chop, deep-fried
pork dish, stir-fried beef and a variety of rice toppings. All of these food
items can be enjoyed for a minimum of P200 per person.
They have branches in several malls around
the metro, including those on SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, Robinsons Place
Manila, Trinoma, the Gateway mall, Glorietta 4 and in Festival Supermall in
Alabang.
NORTH
PARK. North Park Noodle House is another restaurant
that offers similar menu to that of Super Bowl of China. Although the
restaurant’s name sounds very western, the food is unmistakably Asia. Their
specialties include a variety of fried rice, honey roasted pork asado,
stir-fried beef, plus a host of other seafood themed cuisine most of which are
recipes handed down to the restaurant’s Chinese owners.
North Park has several branches in Metro
Manila including that in ATC, Trinoma, Glorietta 5, Market! Market! and SM
Megamall to name a few.
MR. CHOI

of course noodle.

Yuen Noodle House, you can find them at SM Megamall, Greenhills, Makati,
Alabang and Glorietta 5. Prices start at
around P150.
DIMSUM
N’ DUMPLINGS. Dimsum N’ Dumplings offers a cheaper
alternative compared to other restaurants in our list. As its name implies, the
restaurant’s focus is more on dimsum and dumplings. And as such, they offer
mainly fried or steamed dimsum which can be mixed with a variety their own yang
chow fried rice.
Dimsum N’ Dumplings branches can be found
on several locations including Shangri-la Plaza Mall, Robinsons Place Manila,
Glorietta 4, the Gateway Mall, Eastwood Cybermall and SM Fairview. It’s also
one of the most affordable eating spots with an ordinary meal priced at below
P150.
HAINANESE
DELIGHTS. Hainanese Delights is the last restaurant
in our list. It’s also the least influenced by western culture. Aside from the
casual fried chicken and beef brisket, the restaurant taste is still undeniably
Chinese.

food, you can find Hainanese Delights in the following locations: Robinson’s
Galleria, Robinsons Place Manila, Robinsons Forum, SM Fairview, SM Valenzuela
